Coaches Simrose, Mueller & Reeder are excited about the basketball BC Super Conference this weekend in Surry.
http://basketball.bc.ca/index.php/component/k2/item/90-superconference-2011

This conference was fantastic! Alan Stein (Strength and Conditioning Coach for Dematha Highschool in Newyork) was just one of the presenters, he focussed on specific strength and conditioning exercises that are specifically for basketball players. You will see much of this through out the season. Check out his web site for more details.

Are You a Basketball Player?

ARE YOU A BASKETBALL PLAYER?

IF YOU WANT TO…                                                         THEN…
…be part of a good team                                              …work hard to make sure you are not a weak link
…be a good defender                                                    …be fit, mentally tough and refine your footwork
…have more playing time                                             …work relentlessly to eliminate the reasons you get   subbed off
…make more shots or “big” shots                             …practice under simulated game conditions of pressure and fatigue
…win games                                                                       …outwork your opponents in the off-season first
…improve at rebounding                                              …improve your strength, quickness and jumping ability
…decrease your turnovers                                           …practice passing under pressure and with game simulation
…increase your shooting %                                          …refine your technique so it is correct, practice lots, and work up to making 1000 or more shots per day
…score more easily in transition                                …improve your fitness so you can run the lane hard all game
…have better teammates                                            …be a better teammate
…win games                                                                       …make lay-ups, make foul shots, defend and block out
…be on the floor during crunch time                       …be fit, make good decisions, be a lock-down defender, be a dependable shooter and a strong rebounder
…prevent reasons for being subbed off                 …be fit and strong, block out every time, make lay-ups, decrease your turnovers, be a strong defender, be a clutch foul shooter
…be a better player                                                        …decide to be better, listen to your coach, work at it relentlessly
…be a better team                                                          …ask not what your team can do for you but rather what you can do for your team.
